From the Factory Podcast: Out of Retirement, Into the Fire

For the latest episode of Taylor’s From the Factory podcast, hosts Cameron and Jay sat down with Taylor CFO Barbara Wight, whose years of experience helping Taylor grow have brought challenges, achievements, and plenty of stories.

Barbara talks about retiring only to be lured back into the workforce by Bob Taylor and the promise of working for an innovative company directed by visionary minds. She was instrumental in Taylor’s acquisition of the Crelicam ebony mill in Cameroon, Africa, where we launched the Ebony Project as a major program to become better, more responsible stewards of the forests that supply our precious tonewoods. Speaking about the challenges of launching a new business wing in another continent with dramatically different customs and practices, Barbara reveals some of the obstacles that she and the rest of the Taylor team overcame throughout the process and talks about what it’s like to run a company from overseas while ensuring job security and living wages for the local workers at the mill.
