Meet the 50th Anniversary 217e-SB Plus LTD and GS Mini-e Rosewood SB LTD

Throughout 2024, we’re commemorating Taylor’s 50th year of guitar-building innovation with a special lineup of limited-edition guitars. We kicked off the celebration with six beautifully appointed Grand Auditorium guitars, and now we’re excited to add two more models to the 50th Anniversary collection.

Introducing the 50th Anniversary 217e-SB Plus LTD

The 50th Anniversary collection showcases a wide array of Taylor’s original contributions to the world of guitar making. This all-new limited-edition 200 Series acoustic-electric highlights the Grand Pacific body shape, a round-shoulder dreadnought first introduced in 2019. Back then, we brought the Grand Pacific into the world with a pair of premium Builder’s Edition guitars; since then, we’ve rolled it out across the 300, 400 and American Dream Series. Now, we’re excited to bring this versatile, warm-voiced design to our more accessibly priced layered-wood lineup for the first time.

Crafted with layered Indian rosewood back and sides paired with a solid torrefied Sitka spruce top, the 50th Anniversary 217e-SB Plus LTD boasts an alluring tobacco sunburst top treatment with a gloss-finish body. Sonically, players can expect bold projection with a warm, seasoned quality, yielding notes that blend and overlap into a seamless whole. That neo-vintage charm gets a boost from our C-Class interior bracing, which adds more volume, longer sustain and improved low-end power and clarity. Our torrefaction process—a special roasting technique—brings out a mature, aged-in tonal quality, adding a touch of extra warmth along with a depth and sweetness you’d expect from an older, more played-in instrument.

Like our other layered-wood guitars, this model features a slightly narrower nut width of 1-11/16 inches; paired with the slender Taylor neck profile, this allows players of all skill levels and styles to navigate the fretboard with ease.

Along with its striking finish treatment, this Grand Pacific acoustic-electric sports black binding with black/white/black top edge trim, a single-ring Italian acrylic rosette, specially designed 50th Anniversary diamond fretboard inlays in Italian acrylic, gold hardware, and a black pickguard. It includes ES2 electronics for faithful plugged-in tone and ships with a lightweight, sturdy AeroCase for protection and storage.

Meet the 50th Anniversary GS Mini-e Rosewood SB LTD

No celebration of Taylor’s five decades of innovation would be complete without highlighting the GS Mini, the compact, travel-friendly design that has become one of the world’s most popular acoustic guitars. With its supremely comfortable shorter-than-standard scale length and unique voicing, the GS Mini delivers a remarkably bold, powerful response that punches far above its small size. Based on a scaled-down version of our Grand Symphony body shape, the GS Mini has become an essential tool for casual players, solo artists, songwriters and recording musicians across genres and styles.

The 50th Anniversary GS Mini-e Rosewood SB LTD, like its Grand Pacific counterpart, features a solid torrefied spruce top with a vintage sunburst color treatment. Pairing its signature midrange punch with the warmth that comes with our torrefaction process, this GS Mini delivers plenty of projection for practice sessions, open-mic nights and performing alongside other instruments or vocals, able to cut through a mix despite its small body. The compact frame also makes it an ideal choice for players seeking a great-sounding travel guitar, and with the included structured gig bag, it’s easy to pack for road trips or other adventures. Likewise, the shorter scale length and easy-playing neck offer an exceptionally accommodating feel for players of all skill levels.

Visual details for this limited-edition model include special 50th Anniversary diamond fretboard inlays in Italian acrylic, a matte finish, gold hardware and a stylish firestripe pickguard.
