Allen Stone, Doobie Brother Pat Simmons, The Farm, Miyavi and More Among Taylor's NAMM Acts

Taylor Guitars has announced its NAMM Show artist performance schedule, and this year’s lineup spans a wide range of musical genres, including classic and indie rock, international pop, soulful R&B, harmony-rich country and experimental electric. The performances will take place over three days in Taylor’s exhibition room (213 ABC) at the Anaheim Convention Center.

On Thursday, January 24, Nashville-based guitar master Phil Brown will share his deft fretwork in an acoustic set. A seasoned studio and stage veteran, Brown’s resume includes a tour with Little Feat and the critically acclaimed Jimi Hendrix-inspired album The Jimi Project, which was hailed by rock icons Jeff Beck and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry. Brown’s songs have been recorded by Cher, Pat Benatar and many others, and he has worked with Kenny Loggins, Ace Frehley, Steve Lukather and other acts in addition to composing music for film and TV.

Fellow Nashville-based act The Farm will also perform on Thursday. Blending sweet harmonies and a down-home vibe, the country trio released their self-titled debut album in 2012 to industry acclaim. Comprised of members Nick Hoffman (vocals, fiddle), Damien Home (vocals, keyboard, guitar) and Krista Marie (vocals, guitar), the band’s first single, “Home Sweet Home,” charted on Billboard’s Hot Country List and was nominated for the Academy of Country Music’s “Single of the Year.”

On Friday, January 25, Pat Simmons, a founding member of the legendary rock act the Doobie Brothers, will perform. The guitarist, vocalist and contributing writer of hits such as “Black Water,” “Dependin’ on You,” and “Echoes of Love” will cover hits from the band’s extensive catalog, including their latest album, World Gone Crazy. Following Simmons will be Malaysian pop-vocalist Yuna. Since her discovery in 2011, Yuna has developed an international following on the strength of her melodic ballads, and has been making the rounds on late night TV shows such as Conan. In 2012, she was nominated in a Best Act category at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

On Saturday, January 26, acoustic indie rock band Raining Jane will take the stage. Comprised of members Mai Bloomfield (vocals, cello, guitar), Becky Gebhardt (bass, guitar, sitar) Chaska Potter (vocals, guitar), and Mona Tavakoli (drums, vocals, percussions), the quartet has opened for notable act Sara Bareilles and recorded with Jason Mraz, co-writing the hit single “A Beautiful Mess” from Mraz’s 2008 album We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. Following their performance, soulful singer-songwriter Allen Stone, who has been called a “pitch-perfect powerhouse” by USA Today, will fill the room with his moving voice and spirited music. In 2012 his self-titled sophomore album rose to the No. 2 spot on iTunes’ R&B/Soul chart within 48 hours of its release, and Billboard later named Stone “An Artist to Watch.” A busy touring schedule, including an opening slot for prominent acts including Dave Matthews, has helped Stone build a rabid fan base that continues to grow.

Closing out Saturday’s performances will be international electric guitar hero Miyavi. The Japan-based virtuoso is renowned for his unique slap style of guitar playing, primarily on his Taylor T5, along with the innovative way he has blended rock, punk, hip-hop and dance music. Miyavi’s prolific musical output includes 14 albums, his most recent being the 2012 release Samurai Sessions Vol.1. With three world tours to his credit, his set promises to demonstrate why he has become an international guitar hero.
