Question: I just received my new 416ce from Trinity Guitars a couple days ago, and some friends and I have been enjoying it like no other guitar I’ve had recently. The sound of ovangkol happens to be what moves me more than a lot of other tonewoods. A question came up while a buddy was playing the guitar last night. What would ovangkol sound like if used as the top of the guitar?

Answer: Dennis, if you’ve ever heard a koa-topped guitar, it would sound a lot like that. A little more compressed than spruce, a little more centered. Boy, it’s hard to describe tone with written words. Think of a koa-topped guitar.
