Ask Bob: What happens to all the guitars that you take to the NAMM trade show?

Question: I’m watching the clips from Winter NAMM on your website and seeing all the guitars in the Taylor room. What happens to all the guitars that you take to the NAMM trade show and that people have played for four straight days? Do they get sold? Do employees get them?

Answer: Jay, we pass ’em out to people on the freeway on our drive home! Okay, maybe not. They come back to our factory and we put them all into new condition and return them to stock. Some of them are played enough to require them to be sold as a blem, which we have a market for. Others are requested by dealers who want them regardless of whether or not we can make them cosmetically perfect or not. But the key point is that we allow people play our guitars at NAMM, with no rules other than to be polite. We love it when people play guitars.
