Southwest Airlines’ Live at 35™ concert series recently rolled out of the gate with the Travelin’ Taylor Tour, a series of six inflight shows featuring Taylor-playing artists: emerging country acts Parmalee,The Farm, and Easton Corbin, folk-rock trio Good Old War, retro-rockers Vintage Trouble, andAmerican Idol winner Taylor Hicks. During this unique inflight experience, each featured Taylor act played a customized, Southwest-themed GS Mini guitar, and then signed it.
We worked closely with our friends at Southwest to create the six customized GS Mini guitars (pictured) for a sweepstakes promotion in conjunction with the concert series. Southwest hosted a design competition within the company earlier this year to solicit artwork for the guitars, and Taylor Guitars Art Director Cory Sheehan later chose the winning design from a pool of final contenders and adapted it for the guitars.

Southwest also documented the process of transforming the design into a completed GS Mini at Taylor’s manufacturing complex in Tecate, Mexico, and you can watch it all come together in this video, which includes commentary from Taylor luthier Andy Powers.
