In the years since the GS Mini’s debut in 2010, it’s grown to become arguably the world’s most popular acoustic guitar—this year will mark half a million made! Maybe it’s the Mini’s fun, pick-up-and-play nature. Maybe it’s the surprisingly big, bold, resonant voice. Either way, we’ve been having a blast this year playing our GS Minis and sharing the joy they inspire far and wide.
In our photography studio, Taylor’s content team recently brought to life the delightful stop-motion video above, inspired by the spirit of creativity embodied in the GS Mini. It’s titled The GS Mini Tree. Like growing musical trees, GS Minis are full of potential and ready to blossom with fresh, vibrant sounds. They invite budding musicians and experienced guitarists to create new melodies and push the bounds of their artistry. In the video, the “trunk” of the GS Mini tree is made from leather Taylor guitar straps and the “seeds” are guitar picks.
Three of the GS Minis featured on the tree in our stop-motion video are played in the backing track, “American Movie,” performed by Creature Canyon. We recently spent time with them in the recording studio. A Taylor Artist hailing from San Diego, Creature Canyon plays an energetic breed of indie and alternative rock fused with modern psychedelia. Acoustic-electric GS Minis have always been perfectly at home in the studio because of their rich voices, high-quality Expression System pickups and clear, focused tones that cut through a mix.
