On Saturday morning, Bob Taylor joined the Nice Guys of San Diego to fulfill a wish of wounded warrior Corporal Bradley Fite: a Jason Mraz Signature Model guitar. State Senator Joel Anderson and Assemblyman and Marine Corps Veteran Nathan Fletcher were also on hand for the surprise presentation, which left the young Marine nearly speechless.
Corporal Fite’s story first came to the attention of Taylor Guitars through the Nice Guys of San Diego, an organization that seeks to give people a “hand up.” Fite was injured in Afghanistan when an IED exploded, split his spine in half, and nearly destroyed his vital organs. Though Fite was told he would never walk again, he willed himself to overcome the challenge. Awarded the Purple Heart for Combat Duty, Fite has found that music has aided his recovery. Now, with his Taylor guitar, he will be able to lead worship services at his church as he continues to recuperate.
