Renowned acoustic guitarist Leo Kottke (www.leokottke.com) is set to rock Winter NAMM with a rare performance on Thursday, January 15 on the Taylor Guitars stage. Kottke, a self-styled virtuoso, is known for his contemporary acoustic sound and entertaining on-stage antics. His legendary 1969 release, 6- and 12-String Guitar launched his recording career, an amalgam of harmony, rhythm, blues, precision, pop, jazz, and lyrics often featuring his dry humor.
Kottke’s history with Taylor Guitars goes back nearly twenty years to 1990 when Kottke and Bob Taylor, president and co-founder of Taylor Guitars, collaborated to create the Leo Kottke Signature model. The LKSM is a 12-string Jumbo bodied guitar crafted from tropical American mahogany back and sides, Sitka spruce top and Indian rosewood binding. It is tuned down and utilizes a unique bracing to produce an unmistakably Kottke sound. Based on the popularity of the LKSM, in 1997 Taylor introduced the LKSM-6, a 6-string variation of the signature model. After nearly two decades, Kottke remains a Taylor player and one of the company’s signature artists.
