Road Show BTO Winner

Greg C., of Fargo, North Dakota says he was shaking when he heard the news: He was the Grand Prize winner of Taylor’s Road Show giveaway, a custom Build to Order guitar. “I was totally excited,” Greg shared by phone afterwards. “I couldn’t believe I had actually won it. At the Road Show, the Taylor rep said if Brian calls and tells you that you are the winner of the Taylor Road Show BTO don’t hang up it’s the real deal. And when he called, I realized, ‘wow, this doesn’t happen to people every day.’”

Early last fall, the father of three attended his first Taylor Road Show at Marguerite’s Music in Moorhead, Minnesota. He says he was impressed with the amount of detail and technical knowledge the Taylor Road Show team presented. Little did he know that the information he picked up that night — about the acoustic nuances of tonewoods and body shapes — would help him design his prize. He later consulted the tone chart and shape reference on the Taylor website, and says he had some help from his wife. “My wife and I were in love with the look of koa until we went to the tone chart,” he explains. “Koa is a beautiful wood, but I wanted something that would also sound the best across all ranges and decided cocobolo was the right fit for me.”

From there, Greg began to flesh out the details of his dream guitar: a Grand Auditorium body with a cocobolo back and sides, an Engelmann spruce top, and ebony binding. For his appointments, he chose the well-loved “Cindy” inlay scheme, elegantly complemented by a single abalone rosette. The guitar will include the company’s CV bracing and the Expression System® pickup.

“I’m like a kid in a candy store waiting for this guitar,” Greg gushes. “I’m just so excited!” He says he’s looking forward to putting his new Taylor to the test with some of his favorite tunes. “Playing worship music with my family and friends is going to have a whole, new meaning with this incredible guitar.”

His excitement is rivaled only by his gratitude for being selected as the winner: “I thank God for creating Bob Taylor so we can all have Taylor guitars,” he says. “I am so very thankful for my guitar teacher Tom, and Brett from Marguerites for all their help.”
