EL CAJON, Calif. – April 15, 2014 – At the San Diego County Board of Supervisors meeting earlier today, Taylor Guitars co-founders Bob Taylor and Kurt Listug were presented with an official proclamation from Supervisor Dianne Jacob declaring today as “Taylor Guitars Day” in the County of San Diego. Supervisor Jacob recognized the company’s 40-year anniversary of crafting guitars in San Diego’s East County and noted her appreciation for the company’s homegrown roots. “Taylor Guitars is a real gem – it’s a homegrown success story gone global,” said Jacobs. “The company is not only good for our local economy, but it continues to operate on a high note worldwide. Congratulations and best wishes on the next 40 years.”

Founded in Lemon Grove, California, in 1974, Taylor Guitars has grown from a small shop into an industry-leading manufacturer of acoustic and electric guitars, crafting over 500 guitars per day between its factory in El Cajon and the company’s maquiladora in Tecate, Mexico. The company distributes to over 60 different countries and has over 800 dealers in the United States alone. In addition to the company’s factories, Taylor also owns and operates a distribution warehouse in the Netherlands, and an ebony mill, Crelicam, located in Cameroon. Currently, the company employs over 750 people with the majority of those positions located in El Cajon.

The proclamation comes as Taylor celebrates its 40th anniversary with the reintroduction of its 800 Series guitars and the debut of the hybrid electric/acoustic T5z, as the company continues to expand its offerings for guitar players of all skill levels.
