Signs of Spring: Cocobolo, Koa and Exotic GS Mini Limited Editions Arrive

Boasting a fresh selection of gorgeous tonewoods, Taylor’s annual Spring Limited Edition guitars are here. This year’s beauties include a Cocobolo 800 Series, Hawaiian Koa 300 Series, a Baritone 416ce, and a trio of exotic-wood GS Mini guitars.

Cocobolo’s rich tonal palette and bold complexion give it a premium appeal that’s usually reserved for our top-of-the line Presentation Series and custom guitars, but this spring it makes a guest appearance with the 800 Series as an 814ce-LTD and 816ce-LTD. Paired with a Sitka spruce top, the two models feature curly maple binding, a Venetian cutaway, and an abalone rosette. Proprietary CV bracing enhances the natural projection and tonal depth of cocobolo, and it all translates into great amplified tone with our onboard Expression System® (ES) electronics.

Koa’s captivating characteristics, from a bright, complex tonal profile to its visual beauty, make it a perennial favorite of many. While this batch doesn’t quite display the over-the-top figure of our Koa Series models, the “wow” factor is still high, and we’re pleased to offer it as value-added upgrade to our 300 Series. Available as a steel-string 310ce-LTD, 312ce-LTD, 314ce-LTD, 316ce-LTD, or as a nylon-string 312ce-N-LTD and 314ce-N-LTD, the guitars feature back and sides of koa with a Sitka spruce top. All models include a Venetian cutaway, pearloid dot fretboard inlays, a three-ring rosette, and ES electronics.

The popular GS Mini breaks new ground this spring with an inspiring batch of beautiful wood for the back and sides. Choose from maple, rosewood and figured blackwood models, all featuring solid Sitka spruce tops. The GS Mini has been hailed since its 2010 debut for packing a full-size voice into a compact form that’s perfect for an active lifestyle. Each Mini comes with dot fretboard inlays and a three-ring rosette, and is pre-fitted for Taylor’s aftermarket ES-Go soundhole pickup.

From our Specialty guitar category, our Baritone-6 enjoys a new ovangkol/spruce wood pairing with the Grand Symphony 416ce-LTD. The baritone design enables players to explore the low growl of a bari-voiced guitar (tuned from B to B) complemented by ovangkol’s rich tonal range and clarity. The 416ce-LTD features progressive dot fretboard inlays, a three-ring rosette, Venetian cutaway, baritone bracing, and ES electronics.
