Taylor Guitars at the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix

Taylor Guitars was recently approached by our friends at Copper Mountain Resort in Summit County, Colorado, to provide guitars for the winners of the Sprint U.S. Grand Prix ski and snowboard competition. The Grand Prix event, which takes place at Copper Mountain January 9-10 and will be broadcast on NBC (check local listings), has attracted the top freeskiers and snowboarders from around the globe and will kick off America’s largest competitive winter sports tour: the U.S.S.A. Halfpipe Grand Prix. Past competitors have included Shaun White, Jess Cumming, Simon Dumont, Louie Vito and Gretchen Bleiler.

Given the high caliber of competition, we wanted to create something unique to celebrate the winners and the event, so we designed a custom graphic treatment that was printed on three GS Mini guitars. The first, second and third place guitars are distinguished by a gold numeral “1,” silver “2,” and bronze “3,” with other customized graphic elements and logos that signify the event. The back, sides and neck boast a rich, glossy black finish. The guitars will provide this year’s champs with both an eye-catching trophy and a trusty travel guitar that they can take wherever they go this season.

On Thursday evening we’ll be hosting a Taylor jam session and on Friday we’re hosting a screening of Waiting for Lightning, a documentary about the life of pro skateboarder, Danny Way.
