Last week, Taylor Guitars’ hugely popular Road Show marked another first: a record-setting crowd. On March 5 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, nearly 400 Taylor players and enthusiasts attended the popular event, which was held in conjunction with Firey Music at the historic Burnett Mansion. As attendees crowded the downstairs ballroom and lined the adjoining staircase, the Taylor Road Show Team moved into action, coordinating two Road Shows in order to accommodate the huge group.
“We were simply exhilarated with the enthusiasm – and size – of the crowd,” shared Andy Lund, product communications manager. “To make sure everyone got to experience the Road Show, we did two back-to-back shows. Each audience was eager to learn more about Taylor, ask questions of our staff, and play some of our newest models, especially the T3. People came to the show from several surrounding states, in some cases driving up to three hours! For others, it was their second or third time at a Taylor Road Show.”
Now in its third year, the Taylor Guitars Road Show is a guitar lover’s dream: a fun, lively gathering that brings enthusiasts together with Taylor clinicians and experts straight from the company’s factory in El Cajon, California.
At each Road Show, the Taylor Road Show team shares insights on the company’s guitar making process, including an informative demonstration on how body shape and wood affect tone. After the demonstration, players are invited to take part in the show’s most popular feature, the “Petting Zoo”: an opportunity to pick up and play a variety of different models, including the new and much raved about T3 and T3/B, the ever-popular Taylor SolidBody and the versatile, number one selling acoustic/electric semi-hollowbody, the T5. Players can also experience rare guitars, as well as custom Build to Order models. Admission to each Road Show is free.
After the hands-on experience, the Road Show offers a question and answer session with the staff from the Taylor factory, as well as the opportunity to purchase any of the Taylor models, including the rare, custom and one-off guitars.
