Tobias Music, a leading musical instrument retailer in the greater Chicago area, was recognized by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) with a “Top 100 Dealer Award” in the category of “Best Sales Promotion” for its participation in the Taylor Guitars Road Show. The award, which was given at NAMM’s annual summer trade show in Nashville, Tennessee, honored Tobias Music’s record-breaking Taylor event, which was held in 2010 at the Tivoli Theater in Downers Grove, Illinois, and drew 650 guitar enthusiasts from the local community.

The Taylor Road Show is a free event that travels the globe bringing guitar enthusiasts together with Taylor guitar experts from the company’s factory in El Cajon, California for an evening of product education, demonstration and guitar playing. Paul Tobias, proprietor of Tobias Music, has seen the Road Show become an early fall tradition in suburban Chicago. “We have very loyal Taylor fans that can’t wait to see the awesome display of guitars that Taylor brings to the show,” says Tobias, who has been a Taylor Guitars dealer for 30 years. He adds that the electricity and excitement the Road Show generates leaves customers eagerly anticipating future Road Shows. “We are constantly being asked, ‘When is the next show?'”

In 2010, Taylor brought the Road Show to over 190 in-store events in the United States and Canada, and held another 40 events throughout Europe and Asia. The Road Show was awarded the 2008 Supplier Excellence Award from Music Inc. magazine in the category of Events for putting “the excitement of the company’s factory tours into retail dealers across the country.”
